The University of Connecticut’s Genetic Counseling MS Program has an Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling Programs’ new program accredited status.

• Students who matriculate into and successfully complete the UConn genetic counseling graduate program are eligible to apply to sit for the American Board of Genetic Counseling certification examination.
• Earning certification as a genetic counselor from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) is a criterion for meeting state licensure requirements.
• Eligibility requirements for applicants who are not ABGC or ABMGG certified include graduation from an accredited MS or Ph.D. program in Genetic Counseling.

U.S. Department of Education regulations require disclosures to students enrolled in or considering programs leading to professional licensure/certification, regardless of whether the program is offered on-campus or online.

• The UConn Genetic Counseling Graduate Program is an accredited MS degree program and thus meets educational requirements for licensure in 31 states requiring licensure.
