Our Genetic Counseling Program’s online classes, clinical experiences, research requirements, and supplementary activities are coordinated and integrated to create a curriculum designed to support student attainment of the skills described in the 7 domains of a genetic counselor’s Practice-Based Competencies.

UConn’s Genetic Counseling Program educational philosophy is cohesive with that of UConn’s Life Transformative Education Initiative. We began with an intentional and systemic effort to bring together myriad professionals to organize opportunities for students to build authentic, supportive mentor, advisor, peer and client relationships. Our efforts are focused to ensuring our students are both career ready and poised to make an impact on real-world problems by applying what they’ve learned throughout this program.

We apply a systems approach to training for next generation’s translators of health.
