A Note on the Use of AI
Please write your application materials yourself. Your personal statement, diversity statement, and video are the heart of your application. They are how we get to know the real you, in your own voice. We are not looking for an essay that could have been written by anyone (or anything). We are looking for you, your story, your reasons for choosing genetic counseling, and the way you think and reflect.
We can often tell when writing has been generated by AI, and we will use the best tools available to us to detect AI use whenever possible. If we suspect that your materials were written with AI, it will count against you in our review. A statement that sounds like a chatbot tells us very little about who you actually are. Please, skip the AI tools and write from your own experience. We would much rather read something genuine and imperfect than something flawless and impersonal.
